horrible January 4, 2009 Russel Kinnel (Chicago, IL United States) Bad lyrics and unoriginal music. Doesn't anyone remember Jill Sobule did the same song a few years ago? It's just a blatant attempt to sell records. She doesn't believe a word of it.
Turn off your radio if you can't take a joke December 24, 2008 Puddinhead (Between, GA United States) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is an emminently catchy pop tune with a marvelous beat and simple lyrics that gives it its popular longevity. Look, those who seem to find this song so horrible, offensive or both: IT'S SATIRE! There is no serious intent behind this song. In interviews about the song, on NPR and other venues, Katy Perry expresses no wish to convey a profound message about gender relations, religion, or even musical composition. The song is meant to be a joke, along with her other songs such as Ur So Gay (which is not about homosexuality). This is her sense of humor. You either get the joke and laugh with her, or like other jokes it is not to your taste. So turn off your radio if you do not like it or do not buy it.

Love it. Love Katy Perry. She is new and fresh and so far so good
Go for shock & sell some records is what this song is about. December 11, 2008 bookreader (Marina, CA USA) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
The song is one of those annoying tunes that are so bland that they stick into your head, add to that the lyrics and you get one truly bad tune. America needs to put an end to this type of thrash rock, by getting out of their nether regions.
Catchy pop song November 26, 2008 Terry Nightingale (Seattle, WA USA) Don't expect this to be more than a catchy pop dance tune, and you won't be disappointed. There are other venues for discourse on gender relations which do much more a service to their serious consideration. This song is just about having fun, feeling attracted to someone, and acting on that feeling in an "innocent" way. Determining just how innocent is left as an exercise for the listener.
