Kentucky Rain was an international hit when it was released in early 1970. It hit number 16 on the US Billboard singles chart, but reached number 10 on the rival Cashbox singles chart. It hit number 31 on the Billboard Country singles chart and 22 on the Cashbox Country singles chart, as well as reaching number 3 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. The single was certified GOLD by the RIAA and was a hit in several other countries. It is a very strong country-pop song and has aged well.
