Love the music of John Mayer!!!! A Fantastic Performer and Musician!!!! July 31, 2008 Tony L. Harne (Carlsbad, CA. USA) I love this song!!! This song is off the soundtrack of the movie "Bucket List" with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman (Great movie, by the way). I have all of his CDs and just purchased his Live in LA Concert Video. My girlfriend and I just saw him Live in Concert on the 29th of July in Cricket Wireless Center in Chula Vista (San Diego Area), CA. He is such a tremendous guitarist and musician. He played for 2 hours straight and the crowd was going crazy! If you have a chance to hear him in concert, don't pass it up!!! I would buy any song by John Mayer!!!
Beautiful Melody June 30, 2008 Don Le (Westminster, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
His voice is so smooth like butter. I love the melody and I don't care about the fact that he repeats the same lyrics over and over again. It's a sweet, short song that ingrains itself into your mind, ensuring that you'll be repeating the lyrics for days on end.
Worst.Song.Ever. June 18, 2008 Eric Siron 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
I used to be a John Mayer fan. This song alone has put an end to that. I'd rather have random tracks by Barney the purple dinosaur piped directly to my brain for a solid 24 hours than ever hear this song again. The one-line lyrics are nearly as appealing as a jackhammer going off next door at 1 AM except that they'll still sneak into your house over the radio after you shut the window. The music is slightly less monotonous, but nowhere near enough to salvage this train wreck. The only reason this garbage ever made it onto the airwaves at all is because it has a name like "John Mayer" attached to it. The random sing-song of your average 6 year-old produces a more meaningful and interesting musical presentation.
Reviews are missing the message of the song... May 19, 2008 R. A. Kostner 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I think some of the other reviewers are missing the message of the song. The key to this songs overwhelming success (which it is) is the simplicity of it. Yes, the "say what you need to say" chorus is repetative, for a reason. It takes you to a place that sets a certain mood and keeps you there. A very, very romantic song for those who notice it.
Say Anything.... or Nothing April 24, 2008 Amaranth (Northern California) 6 out of 16 found this review helpful
John Mayer's "Say" has a memorable chorus "say what you need to say" and he says it. Over and over. John Mayer has made some excellent tunes, but this isn't one of them. It's boring, bland background music. It's no wonder I've heard it playing over the sound system at Whole Foods. It's Mayer Muzak. Sometimes it's better to say nothing than say something over and over.
