1 out of 5 stars How About 'Old Guys Who Aren't Relevant Anymore'?   August 14, 2008

Admittedly, I was never a New Kids on The Block fan, Markie Mark was dope, but ol' brother Donnie and his buds always seemed to bore me. And since a bad thing can never be kept down, NKOTB has decided, for some unknown reason (maybe Donnie was tired of Jigsaw), to reunite for a bit. The result of this unwanted comeback? Something that sounds like a Backstreet Boys ripoff that's unoriginal and about as bubblegum pop as it gets. Really, is this the return of a supposed legendary group, or a Radio Disney filler band? I'm personally guessing the latter.

Lyrically, like Kid Rock and Boys Like Girls, NKOTB sings about summer love, since it's summer, get it??? Radio-friendly isn't the word for this song, but you could say that NKOTB is VERY desperate for radio attention. Very lite pop, bubble gum pop, this song isn't exactly supposed to change lives, or win Grammy's but I can't understand why anybody but a forever NKOTB fan living in forever in 1988, would want to buy this.

So if you are a New Kids On The Block fan, pick this up. For the rest of us, pick it up for amusement, or how about this novel idea, don't pick it up at all, and write your local radio station to tell them to stop living in the 80's. If they weren't all that good back then, what makes them think they'll be any better now? This train left the station, and it shouldn't have come back. Sorry to offend all you fans, but hey, crap is crap.

I have been a Blockhead for 20 years, and counting. I was beyond ecstatic when the rumors first started going around in January about the reunion. Now that it's official and they have a new single out, it's a dream come true. Summertime is a fabulous song with a wonderful beat. The guys sound absolutely terrific in this song, and I truly can't wait for the full album to come out on Sept. 9th! :-)

This is the first MP3 I have ever bought on the internet. Best. Purchase. Ever. Catchy and funky, I can't help but want to dance.

NKOTB are back and they have turned me back into a 10-year-old.

Thanks.....
