5 out of 5 stars The MP3 preview missed this song's hook   February 15, 2008

Whomever it was who chose this portion of this song as the preview clip for Amazon's MP3 store mustn't be familiar with this song, as they've missed the hook entirely. The song's hook, which will cause anyone 40-ish or older to start singing along, drunk or sober, is this:

So bye-bye, miss american pie.
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "this'll be the day that I die.
"this'll be the day that I die."

Bye bye American Pye, goodby sanity. Incomprehensible lyrics, insipid melody sanctified by incessant radio play. I just want to rip my ears off of my head.

5 out of 5 stars The best pie of all.   September 27, 2007

American Pie is, perhaps, one of the greatest songs of all time. It is also the best song for karaoke bar none. I could not recommend this song highly enough. Also, the price/min is an unquestionable value.

This song captures a time in America at the tail end of the hippie generation. You can spend hours decrypting the the lyrics. All of this for about 10 cents a minute. Can't be beat.
