Forgettin' May 14, 2008 Amaranth (Northern California) 6 out of 10 found this review helpful
Jesse McCartney (of no relation to the Cute Beatle,Sir Paul) is shedding his family-friendly,tween heartthrob image for that of the sultry R&B singer. His is the masculine version of "Doncha" and "Girlfriend." While the Pussycat Dolls&Avril Lavigne sing about stealing other girls' boyfriends in their fabulous coolness, McCartney sings to a woman that she should leave her man because he "can make her sing." He praises his boudoir abilities;pretty adult, for a former Disney standby. He doesn't hide his love away. He sings of giving the woman a magical mystery tour in the bedroom, where they will have strawberry fields forever (however,he doesn't sing of being the walrus or the egg man) McCartney wants to do more than hold her hand. He'll take her across the universe--nothing will change his world.
"Leavin'" isn't an annoying song. It's bland,by-the-numbers soul. McCartney has a pleasant voice. He imitates Justin Timberlake with his quasi-falsetto. The chorus is catchy. Still, your memory will be leavin' this song behind.
